Tao is currently a PhD candidate with an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship in the Department of Management Science and Innovation. He holds a BS degree in Biomedicine from Fudan University in China and used to be a PhD candidate at the Chinese Academy of Science and Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Institute. He also worked as a practitioner in a hospital before he came to UCL.
His research is motivated by an ambition to make a more wide-ranging contribution to biomedicine. With the increasing number of people suffering from various diseases and the incredibly low efficiency of the biopharmaceutical industry, he hopes his experience in medicine and knowledge of business research could bridge the gap between scientific breakthroughs and the commercialization of new chemicals.
