Description

Graduate schemes are not the only route to a great career.  Most graduates, in fact about 80% of them, go onto rewarding, successful careers without graduate schemes. This session will help you find direct entry graduate roles.  We will cover the steps to gaining a direct entry graduate job including the timeline.  We will also review considerations for broadening your job search to include stepping stones towards your ultimate career or how to find exciting alternatives you may not have considered.  Finally, we will cover how to re-position transferable skills to support a job search with more than one route.

At the end of this session students will:
  1. Understand what a direct entry graduate role is and develop an approach to identifying the job opportunities in the current market that meet their career goals
  2. Know the basic steps to gaining these roles including timings and potential changes needed to their application documents
  3. Consider how to broaden their job search and recognise stepping stones to their ultimate role or new alternatives as part of their job search.
  4. Identify the transferable skills and knowledge they have to take more than one career route
