During their time at UCL, BSc Information Management for Business student (now alumnus) Jake Osorio and Bachelor of Laws alumnus Jake Ramus founded Snuze, a network of tech-enhanced sleep pods designed for on-demand naps and short stays. Launching officially in October of this year, the entrepreneurial duo recently announced a significant milestone for the company: £600,000 in pre-seed funding to develop and grow Snuze.
With several planned locations across London, the business offers a number of sound-proof, climate-controlled pods designed for deep, uninterrupted sleep in the middle of a vibrant city. For the founders, the pods present an affordable alternative to busy and overpriced hotels in London with a fully digitised check-in system.
Snuze received the funding from a group of sophisticated angel investors and a private equity firm, with the co-founders planning to use the funding for the completion of a sleep pod prototype, deployment of pods across London, and on digital marketing strategies designed to drive the launch and growth of the startup.
Discussing the premise for Snuze, Jake Osorio told us that his cry to the world is that sleep matters. For him, the company was “built on a struggle with sleep deprivation and cost of living, driven by a passion for wellness.” Jake added, “We’re ready to disrupt the status quo and improve quality of life through our research-backed pod technology”.
