Lorenzo Todorow delivers masterclass for the Alliance for Financial Inclusion

Earlier this month, UCL School of Management Lecturer and Head of Executive Coaching for the UCL Global MBA Dr. Lorenzo Todorow was invited to deliver a masterclass for the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) as part of their newly launched Policy Conversation Series.

The session, titled “Strategies for Motivation and Successful Goal Attainment,” was attended by over 60 financial regulators from 41 institutions across 33 countries. Dr Todorow’s masterclass explored evidence-based approaches to sustaining motivation, balancing competing goals, and navigating institutional complexity.

His talk drew on the latest behavioural science research and practical coaching strategies—including the psychology of short- vs. long-term goals, intrinsic vs. extrinsic motivation, and tools such as mental imagery, action planning, and implementation intentions. The event received exceptionally positive feedback and was described by AFI as both intellectually stimulating and personally empowering.

Notably, the idea for the session was sparked by a suggestion from a UCL MBA alumni, underscoring the programme’s role in inspiring global, practice-oriented learning.
