Students from UCL-PKU MBA explore London start-up scene

In July 2025, students from the UCL MBA with Peking University visited UCL School of Management’s campus in Canary Wharf as part of the optional MSIN0125 Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Europe module led by School of Management Lecturer Alastair Moore and Assistant Professor James Berry.

While the UCL-PKU MBA can be completed wholly in Beijing, this particular module provides an opportunity for students on the programme to visit UCL and engage with the wider community.

Throughout their two-week visit, students developed a crucial understanding of the entrepreneurial landscape in London and explored core topics facing entrepreneurs, including strategic innovation, overcoming resistance to change and communicating like an entrepreneur.

The visit also welcomed a number of expert speakers, including Nicholas Russell, Senior Strategic Advisor at Axiom Space, Michael Silberberg, Managing Director at US Capital, and Jiahao Sun, Founder and CEO of Flock.io. Students also visited Base KX, Shanghai Pudong Bank and Peking University’s UK campus (PHBS) located in Oxford.

Learning aside, the group also enjoyed an evening of bowling in Bloomsbury, a boat trip on London’s iconic Thames River, a vintage bus tour of London, and an evening dinner in Oxford following their visit to PHBS.
