Biography

Marrisa is currently studying for a PhD in Business & Management at Queen Mary, University of London in the centre of Management & Organisational History. Her thesis evaluates the formation of business practices in the Victorian publishing indsutry, in particular analysing how institutional myths and rules evolved to become ‘taken for granted’ in the field; her thesis is titled Literary Business: Institutions of the Victorian British Publishing Industry. Marrisa’s research interests are predominately in organisational culture, and due to her experience of working in the publishing industry, she is also interested in publishing and media history and the history of Intellectual Property legislation in the UK. Prior to working in publishing Marrisa was actively involved in student representation at various levels from course representation to sitting as a Trustee and Member of the University of Chichester Students’ Union Executive; she was the first woman at Chichester to take the role of Sports Federation President.
