Dr. Onesun Steve Yoo is an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in the Department of Management Science and Innovation. Steve received his PhD from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in 2010. He also has an MS in Electrical Engineering from the UCLA (2005). He received his BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and BA in Applied Mathematics from UC Berkeley in 2003.

Dr. Yoo’s research examines the operations of entrepreneurial firms and aims to prescribe novel managerial insights to aid their growth. To achieve my goal, I often employ mathematical model using stochastic dynamic programming, Bayesian learning, and game theory to study entrepreneur’s operational and tactical decisions, including
  • How should you allocate your time in process improvement efforts to accelerate growth?
  • When should you hire your first employee? How can you retain the good employees?
  • How should you allocate your limited sales capacity to take advantage of customer learning?
  • How should you learn and “pivot” during the product development process?
