Earlier this week, 32 UCL School of Management students from a range of programmes returned to London following an incredible trip to the United Arab Emirates in recognition of Global Engagement Week. Organised by our Global Engagement team, the visit saw students develop a deeper understanding of the business landscape in the UAE in order to enhance their understanding of the benefits and challenges of working and operating within the country.

MSc Entrepreneurship alumna Kiki Wöhl has been named in the Social Impact category, while BSc Information Management for Business (IMB) alumna Dolapo Morgan has featured in the Finance category.

UCL School of Management Assistant Professor Anil Doshi recently took part in a panel discussion organised by the OECD exploring the impact of artificial intelligence on student creativity. Held on the run up to World Creativity & Innovation Day, the panel explored whether AI is helping students to apply subject knowledge, or if it merely encourages a superficial level of understanding.

UCL School of Management Associate Professor Colin Fisher has written an article for Harvard Business Review exploring the significance of listening in the workplace. Co-authored alongside Jeffrey Yip, an Assistant Professor of Management at Simon Fraser University, the article specifically addresses the organisational need for managers to be effective listeners in order to improve employee performance at work and increase productivity.

Held annually, the awards recognise the staff who are making outstanding contributions to the learning experience and success of students, with the School’s 2025 nominees including a host of both academic and professional services staff.

UCL School of Management recently held its first-ever Advisory Board for the newly launched MSc in Marketing Science programme and welcomed a board of industry leaders and strategic thinkers to share their expertise. UCL School of Management Associate Professor Ersin Korpeoglu and PhD student Ramazan Kizilyildirim have recently been named as finalists in the 2025 Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) College of Product Innovation and Technology Management (PITM) Best Student Paper Competition.

Jack Walsh, Senior Penetration Tester and Assistant Manager at KPMG, recently joined students on the UCL School of Management’s Digital Strategy & Transformation module again this year at UCL's Bloomsbury campus to share his experience and expertise of how to protect organisations against cyber threats and attacks.

Earlier this week, UCL School of Management partnered with Italian corporate training association CFMT to deliver a tailored Executive Education programme to 26 senior managers from a range of industries and organisations. Entitled ‘Leveraging AI for Strategic Growth and Sustainability’, the two-day programme was delivered on Level 50 of UCL School of Management’s home in One Canada Square.

The Insight Session was hosted at Checkout.com's Global Headquarters near Old Street in London.

UCL School of Management’s careers team recently hosted an exclusive event for BSc/MSci Management Science students on UCL’s Bloomsbury Campus that welcomed a panel of experts from a range of industries to meet and share their insights with students. The event also saw the return of dozens of UCL School of Management alumni, who are now working at leading global firms, including Microsoft, Morgan Stanley and the Financial Times.

UCL School of Management Associate Professor Anthony Klotz has recently featured in an opinion piece from Salon assessing the recent rollout of return to office mandates across a number of large companies. The article argues that hybrid and/or remote work structures are mutually beneficial for both employees and organisation and that enforcing strict office policies will ultimately impact shareholders in the long run.

UCL School of Management Assistant Professor Anil Doshi recently hosted a TEDx Talk at Westminster School in London describing the ways in which students can adopt and incorporate artificial intelligence into their work without killing creativity. Posted only two weeks ago, the video has already gained more than 16,000 views on YouTube.

We are delighted to announce the winners and runners-up of the 2025 Digital Strategy & Transformation Awards, led by UCL School of Management Associate Professor Dr Rikke Duus. This year, almost 200 students took part and formed 34 digital consultancy teams. Over the first five weeks of the term, these teams crafted innovative digital solutions for various business clients, utilising a range of digital and AI tools for their research, ideation, evaluation, and presentations.

Earlier this month, the annual MSc Entrepreneurship Pitch Day took place on Level 50 of One Canada Square and showcased the incredible projects and startups that our students have been working on. Competing for a range of cash prizes which will then be invested into their businesses to accelerate growth, our students pitched their business ideas to a range of experts, angel investors and VC representatives.

Earlier this month, we were delighted to welcome Theo Paphitis, esteemed retail entrepreneur and former Dragon on BBC's Dragon's Den, to Level 50 of One Canada Square to deliver an insightful talk to postgraduate students. Organised by UCL School of Management Teaching Assistant Brian Andrews, the day allowed students to hear from and ask exclusive questions to an entrepreneurship giant.

The annual BSc Information Management for Business programme's Design Sprint took on a new form this Spring Reading Week. Rebranded as the IMB Consult for Good Design Sprint and involving 80 dedicated students from all years of the programme working in collaboration with students from the UCL's Department of Information Studies, the event also saw UCL School of Management partnering with educational charity Svitlo Education. Students were tasked with devising SMART and innovative solutions to real-world challenges faced by Svitlo Education with their active input over a two-day period.

Celebrated annually on 08 March, International Women’s Day commemorates the economic, social, political and cultural achievements of women around the globe. This year, the theme of International Women’s Day is #AccelerateAction, which serves as a global call for solidarity in ensuring gender equality across the globe.A bold message, this year's theme focuses on a global call to action; one that acknowledges the strategies, resources and activities that positively impact women's advancement, and to accelerate their implementation. In recent years, backlash against gender parity has grown yet, as School Director Davide Ravasi notes below, UCL School of Management remains committed to advancing societal progress. The global International Women's Day campaign notes that, at our current rate, it will take five generations before the world can expect to see full gender equality.

We are delighted to share that UCL School of Management Assistant Professor Anil Doshi has been named as one of the Strategy Research Foundation’s 2024 grant winners. Anil will receive the funding as part of the Research in Strategy Management (RSM) Grant Programme, which will be used to support his research in strategy and entrepreneurship.

UCL School of Management Associate Professor Colin Fisher recently wrote an article that was published by The Conversation UK discussing the changes in addressing online misinformation announced by Meta earlier this year. While the organisation previously utilised independent third-party factcheckers in an effort to monitor misinformation, Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced in January that Facebook, Instagram and Threads will be relying on "community notes" in a similar style as Elon Musk's X (formerly Twitter).

Earlier this month, UCL School of Management Assistant Professor Angela Aristidou was invited to speak at the AI Action Summit at the Grand Palais in Paris. Held annually, this year's Summit saw the International Panel on the Information Environment (IPIE) launch its Scientific Panel on AI and Economic Inclusion, with Angela joining a panel of AI experts to mark the occasion.

On Tuesday 18 February, UCL School of Management hosted the inaugural She Shapes AI event and awards ceremony on Level 50 of One Canada Square. She Shapes AI identifies, celebrates and supports female trailblazers around the world in using and developing AI that responsibly contributes to society. On the day, 100 women gathered from around the world to shine a spotlight on inspiring entrepreneurs whose efforts are shaping the use of artificial intelligence to deliver real-world impact. UCL School of Management Assistant Professor Angela Aristidou (pictured right) then opened the evening awards ceremony and convened a workshop on artificial intelligence and governance.

Earlier this month, Lewis James, Senior Data Scientist at Reach plc, joined students on the UCL School of Management’s Digital Strategy & Transformation module to share his deep insights and expertise into AI-led innovation within the fiercely competitive media and publishing industry. The Digital Strategy & Transformation module, led by Dr Rikke Duus, explores how organisations across industry sectors can adapt, evolve and transform to respond to ever-changing market dynamics, customer demands, technology innovation, and economic conditions.

Earlier this month, UCL Innovation and Enterprise hosted the Creating Impact Through Knowledge Exchange Awards and we are delighted to share that eNOugh, an innovative tech start-up born out of UCL School of Management, has received the Most Impactful Start-up Award.

UCL School of Management Associate Professor Bart Vanneste has recently co-authored a research paper which has been published in SSRN alongside Research Fellow Emil Mirzayev and Marco Testini from the University of Miami's Herbert Business School. Entitled 'Artificial Agents and the Evaluation of M&As', the paper explores the impact of generative artificial intelligence on mergers and acquisitions (M&As) and their ability to differentiate between value-creating and value-destroying M&As.

UCL School of Management Associate Professor Anthony Klotz has recently featured in a publication from the Academy of Management to share his insights on the widely accepted dichotomy amongst managers that workplace employees can either be categorised as 'good soldiers' or 'bad apples'. An expert in workplace behaviour, Anthony's research often explores how and why employees balance their good and bad deeds at work.

Earlier this month, second-year Management Science students took part in Scenario Week on Level 50 of One Canada Square as part of the programme's 'Design' module. Led by UCL School of Management Lecturer Lorenzo Todorow, this​ week-long event saw students working in close collaboration with DHL - the world's largest contract logistics specialist - to provide innovative solutions to their specific business challenges. A key part of the BSc/MSci Management Science programme, Scenario Weeks occur throughout the year and require students to work in teams to address complex interdisciplinary management problems.

UCL School of Management Honorary Associate Professor Chia-Jung Tsay has recently featured in an article published by The New York Times in recognition of her research surrounding natural ability versus hard work. The article, entitled 'No, You Don't Get an A For Effort' addresses the seemingly recent emergence of discussions centred upon whether effort and hard work should trump - or at least match - contributions from formal assessment.

Since graduating from UCL School of Management's Management Science programme in 2023, Charlie has launched his career at Huzzle, a start-up co-founded by fellow UCL School of Management graduate Parham Rakhshanfar. We recently caught up with Charlie - currently Huzzle's Chief of Staff - to find out more about his role at the company, as well as his experiences of the programme and the graduate job market. Understanding the difficulties facing current students and recent graduates, he also shares his advice and reassurance to students, as well as his accomplishments at Huzzle so far.
